International Programs Agent - YMCA GTA

This position provides support to the Coordinator and General Manager of the International Youth Internship Program (IYIP).  The YMCA International Youth Internship Program offers a transformative global experience for youth in Canada (ages 18–30) overcoming barriers to employment, identifying as youth with disabilities, Indigenous, racialized, or 2SLGBTQI+. The program includes a 4 to 6-month internship abroad in Colombia (Bogota, Medellin, Cali), Ghana, Togo, or Sierra Leone.  The support includes gathering relevant supporting documentation and financial documentation as well as ensuring data integrity. 

In this role, you will:

  • Perform monthly financial analysis and reporting on the program as requested by GAC and the reporting requirements of our international partners.
  • Collect supporting documentation and prepare financial reports.
  • Perform month end closing tasks related IYIP (claims, forecasting).
  • Work closely with finance in preparing audit documentation for IYIP and funder’s financial monitors.
  • Prepare response documentation for any financial reporting request by GAC.
  • To ensure the claims/reports are matching with the Financial Edge records, meet program claim/report deadlines & training, by due dates.
  • Ensure monthly expenses are kept within the agreed upon contracted amounts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    You bring:

    • Post-secondary education in related field or equivalent experience
    • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in financial analysis
    • Spanish and/or French speaking would be an asset but not required
    • Must be detail oriented and have superior analytical and financial analysis skills.
    • Excellent written, oral communication, problem solving and time management skills.
    • Must possess strong computer skills (Excel, Word, computerized accounting package) and organization skills.
    • Experience in computerized accounting systems and in preparation of financial statements and financial reports an asset.
    • Previous experience working within an organization with government funding an asset.
    • Experience and sensitivity in dealing with members of different cultural and racial backgrounds, including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity
    • Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers
