Intake/Lawyer Assistant - HIV & AIDS Legal Clinic Ontario (HALCO)
The HIV & AIDS Legal Clinic Ontario (HALCO) is a community legal clinic serving the legal needs of people living with HIV in Ontario. The clinic is seeking an Intake/Lawyer Assistant. The person will be able to split their time between working in the office and working remotely.

Responsibilities
The Intake/Lawyer Assistant acts as the point person for HALCO’s client intake program and provides support to caseworkers providing legal services. The Intake/Lawyer Assistant’s duties include the following:
- Gathering information and documents from clients
- Providing clients with legal information and referrals
- Setting client appointments
- Creating and updating records in HALCO’s client information system
- Assisting caseworkers with the preparation of documents
- Participating in caseworker meetings
- Knowledge of legal issues facing low-income and marginalized communities
- Post-secondary education
- High proficiency with Word, Outlook and document management systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Collaboration, teamwork and commitment to excellence
- Experience working with equity-seeking communities
- Knowledge of HIV-affected communities
- Fluency in French
