Primary Activities:

The Human Resources Director is responsible for the people and culture strategies across the BFM Foundation. They are to ensure each strategy reflects both the core purpose and culture of BFM and Mission Thrift Stores across Canada.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand the organizations goals and strategic plan as it relates to people.
  • Design and execute workplace people strategies to meet business needs
  • Develop and oversee the HR budget
  • Assist in shaping a Christ-centred healthy staff and store culture
  • Oversee development of recruitment tools and processes including position development, interviews, selection and offers.
  • Ensure appropriate on-boarding process is consistent within the organization
  • Assist in the development of corporate culture and a strategy to implement such into the organization.
  • Oversee training and professional development opportunities and implementation.
  • Collaborate with finance in the development of market competitive compensation strategies.
  • Oversee the performance management process, tools and system.
  • Assist leaders with discipline, performance improvement plans in accordance with provincial/federal guidelines as well as company policy.
  • Oversee and initiate investigations as required.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with provincial/federal and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Lead all activities within the organization that lead to creating high standards of employee related activity within the organization.
  • You will be required to pray with people who work or volunteer at Mission Thrift Stores while leading meetings at BFM or the stores or as required during daily activities.
Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • CHRP or other Human Resources designation.
  • 8+years of experience in a senior Human Resources management position
  • 3+years Human Resources experience in charity or nonprofit would be an asset
  • Experience coaching collaborating and coaching leaders
  • Well versed in Employment Standards and Human Right Legislation across Canada
Skill Requirements:
  • Excellent relationship building, networking skills that result in a strong team across Canada
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal and influencing skills using discernment and good judgement
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and adhere to budgets
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and related software
  • Reliable and proactive, ability to take initiative, problem solve and implement solutions
  • Must be a self starter, act with discernment and work independently when required
Working Conditions:

The Hr Director will report to the Chief Operating Officer of BFM and collaborate regularly with all other BFM staff. Some travel within Canada is required. This position offers some flexibility in location with approval to work from home at times and the Newmarket office or a mixture of both.
