Housing Supports Assistant - Routes Connecting Communities
Position Title: Housing Supports Assistant
Reports to: Housing Services Navigator
Duration: 8-month contract with possibility of extension.
Type of Position: Part-time, hybrid. $20 per hour, up to 30 hours per week. Weekends and evenings, as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work closely with the Housing Services Navigator to identify challenges, and opportunities for outreach in the communities that Routes serves (Georgina & Newmarket).
- Organize Housing Summits aimed at identifying challenges related to housing, and providing information about housing services, rights and responsibilities, and other related topics.
- Assist with the creation and implementation of the Property Pairing Program.
- Attend various outreach events in and around Newmarket and Georgina promoting the housing programs and services at Routes, including church dinners, Fresh Food Markets, home shows community events, etc.
- Work to promote and provide support for the housing programs at Routes as needed by the Housing Service Navigator (this could entail maintaining a small caseload of clients in which you would provide service navigation too)
- Attend monthly staff meetings to provide updates on the housing program and insight on any upcoming initiatives/events.
- Maintain directory of available housing supports and services.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Post-secondary education in social services or related field, an asset
- Minimum of 1-year related experience in supporting people with housing related needs.
- Valid Class G license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Familiarity with housing issues in York Region.
- Familiarity with York Region supports/services.
- Familiarity with Residential Tenancies Act, eviction prevention strategies, and community resources related to housing and other supports.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to work closely with clients and partner organizations.
- Strong organizational skills, including the use of online productivity tools such as Microsoft365 to maintain various documents, reports, and databases related to housing-related supports and other connected services.
