Job Type: 1-year contract, Full-time (40 hours/week) 
Start Date: Immediate 
Location: Hybrid (in-person at our offices in North York & virtual) 
Salary Range: $50-52K

Since 2009, we have helped over 20,000 women in the GTA transition from unemployment to economic independence. We work together with agency partners, corporate sponsors, individual donors, and dedicated volunteers to create a real impact in women’s lives.

Position Overview 

As the Fundraising and Marketing Coordinator at Dress for Success Toronto, you will make a tangible difference in the lives of women by promoting our vision of economic independence through strategic and impactful marketing and fundraising initiatives. 

Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships, you will assist with the planning, executing, and tracking of marketing and fundraising programs such as the development of the annual giving program, awareness and fundraising campaigns, DFS Toronto’s annual fundraising events, third party events, cultivate media relationships and utilize analytics to measure campaign effectiveness, and donor relations including donor stewardship, follow-up post events and tax receipting. 

This position performs day-to-day activities to build and maintain sustainable revenue in partnership with donors, foundations, corporate partners, and maintains close working relationships with the Programs team to develop and leverage relationships that result in meeting or exceeding the target fundraising goals.  In addition, the role acts as a central point of contact for contracted vendors providing marketing, communications, or public relations services to the organization.  

 

Marketing Responsibilities  

  • Assists in the implementation and execution of the organization’s marketing strategy to meet year-end goals.
  • Supports DFS Toronto’s awareness and fundraising campaigns 
  • Maintains annual marketing calendar and tracks program events and campaigns. 
  • Develops visual content to support marketing and fundraising campaigns and program events 
  • Coordinates and disseminates marketing messaging or content via mail or digital platforms. 
  • Formats and compiles content for weekly newsletter, and targeted marketing emails as needed. 
  • Prepares presentations, sponsorship and partnership materials and supports a wide range of one-time or seasonal projects, and other administrative duties as assigned. 
  • Support the coordination of signature fundraising and Client events with sponsor/donor leads, activations and related administration. 
  • Coordinate all 3rd party events including responding to inquiries and collaborating with the Marketing/Communications team on any materials.  
  • Back up on website and social media, as needed. 


Fundraising Responsibilities  

  • Assists in the implementation and execution of the organization’s fundraising strategy to meet year-end goals. 
  • Effectively communicates the organization’s mission and achievements to prospective funders. 
  • Facilitates and supports the research and identification of funding opportunities. 
  • Maintains databases and systems for recording and tracking donors, donations, grant proposals and awards, and related information. 
  • Provides input and content for fundraising appeals, newsletters, impact reports, annual report, and other donor-focused materials. 
  • Collaborates with Programs staff to gather success stories, testimonials and quantitative data that showcase the tangible outcomes of donors’ support. 
  • Maintains the database of grants and foundations to track timelines, deadlines, eligibility and follow-up to submissions. 
  • Maintains a calendar of upcoming grant application deadlines and a portfolio of active and pending grants and provides monthly status reports. 
  • Assist in the creation of fundraising materials and proposals. 
  • Supports the Leadership Team in developing, preparing, and submitting grant applications. 
  • Stays current with foundation trends and giving priorities. 
  • Track and analyze fundraising metrics to assess the success of campaigns and recommend improvements. 
  • Responsible for execution of sponsorship proposals and contracts, and the coordination of activation activities. 
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to create compelling materials that highlight the impact of donor contributions. 
     

Donor Management 

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with donors, acting as a reliable trusted point of contact. 
  • Assists with the development of a donor stewardship program. 
  • Identifies opportunities for deeper engagement and involvement, such as volunteering, events, or advisory roles. 
  • Tracks and ensures sponsorship deliverables are met. 
  • Manage donor databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of donor interactions and contributions. 
  • Together with the Marketing and Communications team, develop and implement strategies (such as a donor newsletter) to cultivate and sustain positive relationships with existing donors as part of DFS Toronto’s stewardship program 
  • Conduct donor research to identify potential new supporters. 
    • Investigate giving programs at other affiliates 
    • Connect with new organizations or networks 
    • Maintain and grow the corporate partner wish list 
  • Coordinate donor communication, including personalized acknowledgment letters, updates on organizational achievements, and invitations to events. 
  • Responsible for the collection of all pledged donations including reconciliation and deposits, issuing tax receipts, thank you letters and letters of acknowledgment 

 

Education, Skills and Experience: 

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in marketing, communications, public relations, fundraising or a related field, preferably in the non-profit sector. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator, ect.), Canva, and Constant Contact. 
    • Ability to learn new systems such as Keela. 
  • Skilled with different forms of creative expression, both written and visual. 
  • Effective project and time management, process-oriented thinking, and problem-solving skills.  
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while meeting all required deadlines. 
  • Self-motivated and proactive commitment to ongoing learning and improvement, both as an individual and as part of a whole staff team. 
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed, with advanced notice. 
  • Ability to stay on task while working independently or with others.   
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in digital marketing, social media management, and content creation. 
  • Passionate about the mission of Dress for Success Toronto and promoting women's economic independence.
