Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Fundraising & Revenue Diversification
- Work alongside Executive Director to design and execute an annual fundraising plan balancing operating needs (core programs) and capital priorities (e.g. core facility upgrades, potential laneway suite).
- Expand foundation and government grant funding through targeted prospecting, compelling proposals, and rigorous reporting.
- Identify and support cultivation of corporate partnerships aligned with mental health advocacy and community impact.
- Track and report on fundraising KPIs (e.g., donor retention, grant success rates) to optimize strategies and demonstrate ROI.
- Support the development and implementation of strategies to attract next-generation donors through digital campaigns, social media outreach, and community engagement.
- Work with Executive Director to strengthen legacy giving opportunities through planned giving programs, donor education, and tailored stewardship for long-term supporters.
- Oversee donor database to track interactions, measure campaign success, and segment audiences for personalized outreach.
- Work with Executive Director to implement a communications strategy to elevate brand awareness via social media, newsletters, and the website (www.hoctoronto.com).
- Produce mission-driven content (impact stories, videos, reports) highlighting resident successes and donor impact.
- Support collaborations with Yorkminster Park Baptist Church to co-create awareness campaigns and leverage shared networks.
- Support the Executive Director and Board in developing phased capital funding strategies for priority capital projects.
- Work to deepen strategic alignment with Yorkminster Park Baptist Church to expand shared resources and funding opportunities.
- Support the development of partnerships with Toronto mental health organizations, housing advocates, and corporate stakeholders.
Essential
- 3+ years of nonprofit experience in fundraising and communications/marketing.
- Proven success securing grants from foundations, corporations, or government funders.
- Strong storytelling skills with experience crafting donor-centric materials (impact reports, newsletters, videos).
- In-depth understanding of the mental health and housing landscape in Toronto, with familiarity of relevant networks and funding sources.
- Knowledge of capital fundraising or facility development projects.
- CFRE designation or commitment to pursue within 12 months.
- Experience collaborating with faith-based organizations and/or community health partners.
- Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., Raiser’s Edge), digital fundraising platforms, and content creation tools (Canva, Hootsuite).
- Small, collaborative team serving 21 residents in a 24/7 supportive housing community.
- Hybrid work model with office space in Toronto’s Queen West neighborhood.
- Occasional evening/weekend work for donor meetings or other activities and events.
- Values-driven environment prioritizing dignity, collaboration, and innovation.
