Fundraising Coordinator, Corporate Giving & Sponsorships - QMUNITY

QMUNITY operates on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of Indigenous peoples across British Columbia. In particular, QMUNITY offices are located on the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

About QMUNITY: QMUNITY is BC’s 2SLBGTQIA+ community hub and exists to improve queer, trans, and Two-Spirit lives. We do this in three ways: by supporting individuals, by strengthening our communities, and by leading the way towards legal and lived equality. We operate with 15 staff, and a large pool of volunteers.

Purpose: Reporting to the Director of Development, the Fundraising Coordinator, Corporate Giving & Sponsorships plays a pivotal role in supporting QMUNITY’s mission by developing and implementing strategic fundraising initiatives. The Fundraising Coordinator will primarily work towards engagement with corporate donors and external partners to secure financial support for QMUNITY’s operations, programs, and services. This position requires a passionate individual who is committed to advancing the rights and well-being of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Donor Cultivation and Stewardship (35%):

  • Manage a portfolio of corporate and institutional donors, nurturing and growing relationships to secure ongoing financial support.

  • Conduct prospect research to identify new potential donors and develop strategies for their engagement.

  • Utilize a variety of engagement methods, including in-person meetings, presentations, phone calls, personalized letters, email communications, and virtual interactions to cultivate and steward relationships with donors.

  • Tailor communication and engagement strategies to meet the preferences and interests of corporate and institutional donors, ensuring a personalized and meaningful donor experience.

  • Provide regular updates to donors on organizational activities, impact, and the effective use of their contributions.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to develop and implement recognition and stewardship activities to acknowledge donor generosity.

    2. Develop Fundraising Strategies (20%):

  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with the organization's goals and mission.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising strategies, making data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement and growth.

  • Stay updated on emerging fundraising trends and best practices within the 2SLGBTQIA+ and charitable sector.

  • Create compelling cases for support and fundraising materials, such as proposals, sponsorship packages, and campaign collateral, ensuring alignment with the organization's messaging and brand identity.

  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to develop compelling fundraising materials and promotional content.

    3. Fundraising Campaigns and Events (25%):

  • Under the supervision of the Director of Development, support the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and events to maximize revenue and community engagement; this includes, but is not limited to QMUNITY’s annual IDAHOBIT Breakfast, and annual fundraising and donor appreciation events.

  • Identify, invite, and engage key donors, sponsors, and community partners for events, leveraging relationships and donor cultivation.

  • Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator, and staff to recruit event-specific volunteers, ensuring smooth coordination and execution of event activities.

  • Contribute to the development of event materials, such as invitations, event programs, signage, and promotional collateral.

  • Work closely with the Finance team to track event-related income and expenses, ensuring accurate financial reporting and analysis.

  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising events, soliciting feedback from attendees and stakeholders, and making recommendations for improvements in future events.

  • Provide guidance and support to corporate and institutional organizations  engaging in peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns, offering resources, information, and materials.

    4. Database Management (20%):

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the fundraising database, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and compliance with privacy regulations.

  • Regularly update donor profiles with relevant information, including contact details, giving history, preferences, and interactions, to support personalized donor communication and engagement.

  • Generate reports and analyze fundraising data to identify trends, measure performance, and inform strategic decision-making and resource allocation.

  • Collaborate with the Finance team to reconcile donor contributions and ensure accurate financial tracking in the fundraising database.

  • Implement data segmentation strategies to target specific donor groups for tailored communications and fundraising appeals.

  • Leverage the fundraising database to generate mailing lists, acknowledgments, tax receipts, and other donor-related communications.

  • Conduct regular data hygiene practices, such as deduplication, data cleansing, and regular backups, to maintain data accuracy and system integrity.

Qualifications, Skills and Core Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree or post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, fundraising, communications) or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience in fundraising, donor cultivation, and stewardship, preferably within the nonprofit sector or 2SLGBTQIA+ organizations.

  • Strong understanding of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and related issues.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey the organization's mission and impact effectively.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing fundraising strategies and campaigns.

  • Track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising targets

  • Proficient in using fundraising CRM; NXT Razer’s Edge experience is a strong asset.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to work independently.

  • Sensitivity to diverse identities and experiences within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Requirements: 

  • Criminal records check

  • First Aid, CPR and ASIST certification is an asset

  • The ability to handle confidential/sensitive information appropriately

  • Commitment to a high standard of service and an atmosphere of respect and dignity in all aspects of the programs and services for our communities

Compensation:

Compensation for this position is $36.05 per hour as well as registration into the Multi Sector Pension Plan. Comprehensive benefits package (extended health and dental insurance), as well as supplemental $1000/year health & wellness credit provided by QMUNITY after a three month probation period. 

This job is full time, working 37.5 hours per week. QMUNITY operates on a four day work week between Monday and Friday, with the option to opt out if need be. Work Schedule to be determined upon hire by the Director of Development.
