Contract:                                8-week contract. June 2nd to July 25th

Wage:                                      $19 per hour. 35 hours per week.

Location:                                890 Yonge Street, Toronto

Reports To:                             Manager, Annual Giving

Work environment:                Hybrid, as per policies- 2 days in office, 3 days remote (subject to change based on public health guidance)
           
ABOUT FIGHTING BLINDNESS CANADA (FBC). FBC is the largest charitable funder of vision research in Canada. Over our 50- FBC’s year history, FBC has contributed critical funding for the development of sight-saving treatments and cures for blinding eye diseases. We are also an invaluable resource for individuals and families impacted by blindness, providing accurate eye health information through our website and educational events, as well as engaging with government and other stakeholders to advance better vision health policies.

ABOUT THE ROLE. This individual will play a central role supporting the operations and development of Fighting Blindness Canada’s Annual Giving portfolio. Requiring exceptional analytical, customer service, communications and technical skills, the Fundraising Administrative Assistant is supporting Fighting Blindness Canada’s efforts towards raising awareness of and engagement in Fighting Blindness Canada and contributing to our fundraising efforts.  This role reports to the Manager, Annual Giving and will also be given assignments from the Senior Manager Digital Marketing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Mass Marketing Annual Giving:
    • Supports the Manager in the design and implementation of an innovative program designed to increase donor retention and upgrades.
    • Works with Donor Relations and Marketing & Communications teams on materials and touchpoints for this group of donors.
    • Analyzes campaign performance and donor data to refine outreach and maximize revenue.
    • Prepares reports on donor retention, acquisition, campaign performance, and lifetime value metrics.
    • Prepares report summarizing new donor survey input.
  2. Mass Monthly Giving Program
    • Support the Manager of Annual Giving as we roll out a new campaign to acquire and retain monthly donors.
    • Maintains the calendar of all monthly touchpoints and communicates these to staff as required.
    • Performs administrative activities including minimizing/reactivating on holds, extracting reports from Raisers Edge, and calling donors with declined banking information.
  3. Digital Fundraising
    • Support the implementation of digital marketing and communications activities and assist in the planning and reporting of such activities, in addition to related administration processes.
    • Develops content and supports monitoring, collecting, and analysis of web, social, and email statistics.
    • Coordinates market research to support growth of FBC digital platforms,
    • Provides administrative support where needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, prioritize, and multitask. 
  • Proactive attitude with a passion for customer satisfaction.
  • Able to work autonomously and as a member of a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Office) and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable to learn and use database/software (Raiser’s Edge, AKA Raisin, Survey Monkey, Mail Chimp).
  • Experience in digital communications and/or marketing, including writing and planning web, social, and email content, and sourcing and analyzing data.
  • Adhere to the AFP Fundraising Code of Ethics and the Donor Bill of Rights
  • Bilingualism in English and French is considered a strong asset but not a requirement
To be eligible, participants must:
  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
