Yorktown Family Services provides a comprehensive range of mental health services for children, youth, young adults and families who are experiencing serious emotional/social/behavioural difficulties along with several gender-based violence initiatives. Primary Function: Support the Director of Finance through the day to day management of the following activities of the Finance/Audit Committee while ensuring all finance related activities are prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Accounting Standards for Not-for Profit Organizations (ASNPO)
The goal of this position is to work closely with the Director of Finance in the support of the finance leadership of the Agency by assisting in making sound business decisions to mitigate risk and meet the Agency’s strategic goals with accurate and timely activities and financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and support the annual budget planning cycles ensuring that the budget process includes timely consultation with relevant departments, including detailed personnel expenditures and program expenditures for the annual budget
- Provide leadership and support to the annual audit, providing supporting lead sheets and responding to queries from the Auditors
- Support the Accountant in the management of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable function as it relates to reviewing entries, account status, payment/collection schedules and preparation of reconciliation of accounts, and ensuring that internal controls are in place and are monitored. Make recommendations on streamlining of functions as required
- Final Review bi-weekly Payroll
- Review and approve draft annual payroll reconciliations e.g. EHT, WSIB, T4, T4A, Taxable Benefits provided by the Accountant
- Provide draft preliminary T3010 Annual Charity Return and associated schedules for the required data for submission to the Director of Finance
- Support the collective bargaining process with requested costing and scenarios.
- Provide support with statistical and financial analysis data and prepares reports and correspondence as requested
- Provide support for new and existing programs e.g. budgets, forecasting for reporting as well as for Ad Hoc Reports
- Balance sheet account reconciliations, identifying changes and provide explanation and make recommendations for corrective action
- Adhere to internal controls and finance policies and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff providing guidance and support to the Payroll Administrator and Accountant
- Support Agency events and fundraising activities
- Other duties as required
- A CPA designated is preferred and/or other equivalent combination of education and demonstrated work experience with comparable duties
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive and related finance and accounting experience in financial statement preparation and review, in a unionized environment for a not-for-profit
- Advanced computer skills with a proficiency with ACCPAC and Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must have the highest degree of integrity dealing with highly confidential information
- Demonstrated ability to meet tight and competing deadliness with accuracy
- Must have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple, concurrent requests
- Must have the ability to work productively both independently and as a team member
