Position Title: Employer Liaison and Job Coach

Worksite Location: Hanover, ON and Owen Sound, ON (with regular travel through Grey-Bruce counties)

Position Type: Permanent full-time Category: #1

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Shifts: Days; Monday – Friday

Salary: $26.18 - $29.76 per hour. Wages commensurate with qualifications and experience. (benefits available to permanent full-time only)

Start Date: As soon as possible

The Opportunity:

We are looking for an individual who is knowledgeable about the local, regional, provincial and, to some extent, the national labour market and the forces which impact upon it. Employer Liaisons are specialists in the tools required to uncover hidden job market opportunities and develops jobs for the mutual benefit of the employer and job seeker. Employer Liaisons facilitate and administer the placement of clients. This is a position is based on a high level of attention to detail. The Employer Liaison works closely with employers and Employment Engagement Specialists to match assisted clients with sustainable jobs and other employment-related capacities within the labour market. This position is the “face of the Y” with high community visibility; strict adherence to the YMCA’s values is imperative. The Employer Liaison obtains optimum placement results while maintaining YMCA values.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Case Managers and Resource & Information staff to determine possible job placements and other employment-related opportunity matches, that address a client’s abilities, transferable skills, and skill limits.
  • Help to dispel myths or misunderstandings to employers when promoting programs and clients.
  • Market YMCA programs and clients directly to employers using a structured marketing approach (prospecting, needs analysis, selling, follow-up).
  • Work with employers to place, match and job coach clients which could include job carving for customized employment needs.
  • Assess workplace environments and employers to determine overall suitability for client placement, related opportunities, and assess basic workplace safety standards are met.
  • Assist employers to develop training plans and detailed retention plans for clients.
  • Monitor client on-the-job progress and provide appropriate interventions.
  • Coach employers and clients to help ensure job retention and successful outcomes.
  • Identify required financial supports for Client to remove barriers to employment.
  • Understand the Performance Management Model and the Service Quality Standard and its composition, and actively work with the employment team to attain, maintain, and exceed that standard.
  • Liaise with the Employment Engagement Specialists to implement and make available identified community partner resourcing for clients with identified barriers.
  • Local point of contact for employers. Builds relationships to understand employer business needs and markets Employment Services employer programs.
  • Support employer recruitment efforts and participate in Employment Services employer programs.
  • Provide access to financial supports available through employer programs, assisting with paperwork, monitoring, and flow of funds.
  • Actively participate in business community events to foster and maintain high visibility for the Employment Service and its services.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge about local employers, their business, and what they look for in new employees.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops and information sessions for the employer community.
  • Identify and develop new opportunities to promote the YMCA Employment Service to employers, clients, and the broader community.
  • Provide information and training to employers to meet identified training needs.
  • Provide targeted and customized job coaching that provides support for the placement needs and employer identified issues.
  • Maintain client and employer files to YMCA standards and maintains statistical records as required.
  • Liaise with Employer Liaisons from other agencies in the area to foster cooperative relationships and discuss best practices.
  • Participate regularly in regional Employer Support committee meetings to represent local community employer needs and share on the ground labour market information.
  • Adherence to all provincial and federal legislation relevant to job description.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Experience using Motivational Interviewing techniques.
  • Experience coaching individuals in a human services setting.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge working with diverse groups and youth at risk.
  • Familiarity with Bridges out of Poverty Framework (an asset).
  • Proficiency with CaMS (Case Management Solution) or other system which supports the delivery of client and employer information (an asset)
  • Proficient with MS Office suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, including in negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Detail oriented with high expectations ensuring quality service provision, documentation and confidentiality.
  • Understanding the local, regional, provincial and to some extent, national labour market.
  • Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non

  • Confirming valid Class G Driver’s License; able to travel throughout Grey and Bruce
  • Counties; must have own vehicle.
  • Accessible after hours for crisis support specifically related to retention
