Position:         Drop-in Cook, Full Time permanent
Number of Position: 1
Hours:             Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 2:00 pm
                           (7 hours a day including ½ hour paid lunch, 35 hours per week)
Location:         552 Adelaide Street West, Toronto ON M5V 3W8
Reports to:      Manager, Drop-in
Estimated Start Day:  after February 1, 2025

Who We Are
Founded in 1913, Evangel Hall Mission (EHM) is a multi-service agency that provides support to people who are experiencing homelessness and poverty. EHM is home to over 160 individuals and families, living in our two subsidised apartment buildings.  Residence staff offer support with eviction prevention, information and referral and community development. We also offer hot meals, showers, laundry facilities and respite from the elements through our Drop In Centre. Tenants and Drop In participants can access spiritual care, volunteer and employment opportunities, and voluntary financial trusteeship from EHM staff. They can also access a range of supports from community partners onsite at EHM, such as Narcotics Anonymous, vaccine clinics, nursing care, legal clinics, programs offered by Toronto Public Health and many more.

The Cook has responsibility for providing support to the participants through the preparation and delivery of meals contributing to the day-to-day smooth functioning and operating of the Drop-In program, services, and activities. The drop-in program provides direct services to those experiencing poverty and homelessness.

What you would bring to the role:

• Successful completion of a high school diploma or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A certificate in food studies, food security, or equivalent experience
• Minimum of one (1) year of recent relevant experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs while working in a commercial kitchen environment
