Director of Youth and Community Programs 

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Youth and Community Programs to lead the strategic development, implementation, and management of our programs. The Director of Youth and Community Programs will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of Face of Today’s programs and partnerships. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role serves on the leadership team, providing supervision and support for a small team including Manager of Community Engagement, Community Partners, and Program Staff. The Director of Youth and Community Programs will play a pivotal role in driving the organization's mission forward by overseeing all aspects of program design, execution, evaluation, and expansion.

Roles and Responsibilities:  

Management 

  • Reports to ED

  • Direct report for Manager of community engagement (including weekly meetings)

  • Direct report for program staff 

  • Manage (in partnership with ED) all community partners 

  • Coach, guide, and schedule fellows in partnership with Director of Fellowship 

  • Manage and schedule program staff

  • Member of Senior leadership team 

  • Demonstrating an understanding of trauma informed, DBT oriented, relationship based, culturally/SOGIE sensitive approach in engaging with vulnerable youth and provides support and training to staff in this area

Programs

  • Oversee all program run out of the WGY centre

  • Responsible for the quality control of programs

  • Safety and staff training for programs (risk analysis, incident reporting, emergency procedures, and youth safety plans)

  • Manage Wrap Around program in coordination with Manager of Community Engagement 

  • Conceptualize new programs and implement community-based activities in a collaborative manner

  • Weekly/monthly supervision/evaluation of programs (primarily in the evening)

  • Creating and managing program budgets in partnership with ED

  • Developing, processing, and monitoring evaluation toolkits and indicators to measure program performance

  • Collecting, recording, and analyzing project data

  • Initiating and setting goals for programs according to the strategic objectives of the organization

  • Ensure program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies

Operational Leadership

  • Impact report

  • Ability to safely and effectively deal with emergencies, unusual incidents and behavioral challenges

  • Planning and organization of special events

  • Designing, directing, implementing, and disseminating objectives and operational strategies

  • Must be available on-call to support staff, find coverage, or cover shifts as needed

  • Research and apply to relevant grants in partnership with Fundraising Coordinator

  • Ensure that programs are aligned with grant deliverables 

  • Scheduling space and availability in the WGY centre in coordination with the HR Coordinator. 

Qualifications & skills:
 

  • Degree in social work, community development, recreation or another in a related discipline or combination of relevant education and experience

  •  5+ years of management experience in a non-profit or public sector organization

  • Track record of excellence in service delivery and program management, with experience working with the vulnerable sector 

  • Experience creating and implementing strategic and operational plans

  • Experience working with diverse communities, including Indigenous peoples

  • Excellent people skills, role modeling professionalism, productivity, and accountability, with authenticity and sensitivity

  • Strong communications skills (written, verbal, and digital)

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, and attention to detail

  • Experience coaching and mentoring staff, volunteers and youth 

  • Proven experience in creating a collaborative and safe learning space to foster individual and team growth.

  • Ability to work flexible hours with notice.

  • Must have administrative experience and proficient with Google Suite and Canva.

  • Employment is subject to: Successful clearance of Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search.

Compensation 

  • Full-time permanent position however hours may change depending on the season. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required. 

  • $70K-80K depending on experience 

  • Vacation 4 weeks to start plus winter office closure between Christmas and New Years

  • 10 health and wellness days

  • Employer paid extended healthcare

  • Open to a flexible work model that supports occasional remote work days.
