About you

You’re have experience in driving email campaigns, developing content calendars, and copywriting for social, digital and email content.

You understand the political landscape and have worked with progressive organizations before.

You’re interested in digital marketing and see the power of rallying support through a ladder of engagement. You love learning how effective an email program can be when complemented by a paid social and digital media campaign.

You’re a copywriter at heart. You love telling a story and know that any content that makes people take action are those they can relate to.

You’re a team player and enjoy collaborating with larger project teams. You’ll then work independently to develop digital content and calendars for email programs.

You have a sense of humour about yourself and others. There’s a lot of laughter at NOW – and we like it that way. 

About the job
As a Digital Marketing Specialist & Copywriter, you will be responsible for developing and executing online marketing campaigns that engage and convert subscribers for our progressive clients and rally supporters when it’s time to take action. Your role will involve working closely with our project teams to ensure cohesive and effective marketing strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns on a variety of content management and email platforms, including NationBuilder, Action Network, UnionWare, MailChimp, etc.
  • Create and manage engaging email content that aligns with clients' message, voice and goals.
  • Monitor and report on email campaign performance, including open rates, click-through rates, conversions, and other key metrics – all while managing the influx of email data and maintaining the quality of subscription lists.
  • Write copy for campaign landing pages, social ads and organic posts, and online ads and collaborate with project teams to integrate email campaigns with broader marketing efforts.
  • Write compelling email copy and develop an email marketing calendar to ensure timely and relevant communications.
  • Manage and segment subscriber lists to ensure targeted and relevant communications.
  • Implement tagging and list-cleaning strategies to maintain high deliverability and engagement rates.
  • Conduct A/B testing to optimize email content and delivery, if needed.
  • Manage the agency's e-newsletter, including content development and distribution.
  • Stay updated with email marketing trends and best practices to continually improve campaign performance.
Qualifications:
  • Strong copywriting skills is a must, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in digital marketing and copywriting, preferably within progressive organizations.
  • Proficiency with content management and customer relationship management software (such as NationBuilder and/or Action Network), web content management systems (such as Wordpress), and online advocacy platforms (such as New/Mode).
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with online marketing analytics and reporting for email programs, and digital and social paid ads.
  • High level of initiative and self-directed work combined with a collaborative approach.
  • Proven ability to work well under tight deadlines and ability to shift focus, if needed.
  • Can multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Expertise on email marketing best practices, including list management, segmentation, and deliverability.
  • Passion for progressive causes and commitment to supporting our clients' missions.
Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with other email marketing platforms and tools and social ad platforms, such as Meta Ads Manager.
  • Experience with HTML/CSS for email design.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Any design skills or experience is also a bonus.
