Who We Are:
LetsStopAIDS is Canada’s Youth-HIV charity focusing on HIV prevention and knowledge exchange by engaging young people and fostering leadership. Since 2004, we have been creating a global network of youth-HIV leaders.
The Position:
This is a full-time salaried position reporting to the Founder, President, and Board of Directors. The Development Manager is responsible for developing and implementing LetsStopAIDS' fundraising strategy. This role leads a team of staff members, co-op students, and volunteers to oversee corporate partnerships, grant applications, fundraising campaigns and events, and the expansion of our annual giving program. The role is fully in-person, working from our office in Downtown Toronto.
What You'll Be Doing Day to Day:
- Implement LetsStopAIDS’ existing fundraising strategy while continuously assessing its effectiveness, identifying opportunities for strategic pivots, and ensuring alignment with sector trends.
- Continuously develop and execute a comprehensive, diversified fundraising plan (including events and innovative initiatives), with a strong focus on identifying, prioritizing, and cultivating relationships with new major donors while stewarding all donors with excellence.
- Manage and mentor a team of staff, co-op students, and volunteers to support fundraising initiatives.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with corporate sponsors, identifying opportunities for financial and in-kind support.
- Lead the research, writing, and submission of grant applications to secure funding from foundations and government sources.
- Expand and oversee LetsStopAIDS’ annual giving and major gifts fundraising efforts to build a sustainable base of supporters.
- Plan and execute fundraising campaigns and events to engage donors and generate revenue.
- Set appropriate strategies and budgets required to reach fundraising goals and milestones while implementing benchmark and progress measurement procedures.
What You'll Bring to the Role:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a fundraising capacity, with a preference for candidates specializing in corporate partnerships or major gift fundraising.
- CFRE certification is an asset.
- Strong leadership skills and demonstrated experience in managing teams and taking initiative to execute plans.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Well-established network of contacts with Canadian organizations -- in both for-profit and non-profit sectors.
- Proven fundraising operations skills, including the ability to critically evaluate fundraising efforts on an ongoing basis.
- Analytical, organized, proactive, and detail-oriented with a strong ability to prioritize.
- Ability to work in a very fast-paced, results-oriented start-up environment.
- Experience working or volunteering with a not-for-profit organization will be considered an asset.
- Experience in project management will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of issues surrounding HIV is an asset.
- Background in marketing and branding, with the ability to raise brand awareness is an asset.
