What You’ll Be Doing
The Development Coordinator, Events and Partnerships is a vital position within Oakville & Milton Humane Society’s (OMHS) Development team and is responsible for creating engagement and generating revenue for the shelter. The role is held by a highly motivated person who is passionate about making a positive impact and supporting the fundraising success of our organization.
The Development Coordinator, Events and Partnerships is a tenacious and results-oriented individual, naturally equipped to innovate and problem-solve while creating and coordinating our signature events, corporate partnerships and fundraising programs for OMHS. The ideal candidate has all the attributes necessary to be a successful fundraiser and is eager to learn, internally driven, has superior communication skills and genuinely enjoys working with and building relationships with people.

As a primary relationship building role for the organization, the Development Coordinator, Events and Partnerships will be in-person, attending events and supporting teammates on a daily basis.
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Wage: $26.53 per hour + Benefits
Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, morning/afternoon shifts and afternoon/evening shifts as required. Can include some weekends for events.

This position entails working in an animal shelter environment, where you will have regular exposure to a variety of species and sizes of animals. Candidates should be comfortable and prepared to work with and in close proximity to them.

Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate and successfully execute all aspects of signature events at OMHS (Doggie Dip, Mission Pawsible, Calendar Contest, Prancing with the Stars) and the third-party fundraising program (Pawsitive Partners)
- Plan, coordinate and execute all aspects of the corporate partnership program to ensure its ongoing success, including lead-generation, pipeline management, development of proposals and agreements, onboarding, recognition, wrap up reports and stewardship
- Coordinate and monitor the execution of all fundraiser and sponsor recognition, in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team
- Drive revenue growth and engagement through creative ideas and strategies
- Develop, monitor, and analyze event budgets, metrics, and goals for all activities associated with Signature Events, third party fundraisers and sponsorships
- Support programming and related tasks executed by the Development team
- Provide outstanding customer service to community members including participants, donors, sponsors and partners through various forms of communication, with a high volume of phone communication
- Prepare reports and deliver oral presentations to large and small groups
- Engage and coordinate volunteers for development-related activities
- Actively participate and encourage the engagement of others in OMHS and community events.
- Collaborate with the development team in the growth and retention of supporters through various programs and initiatives
- Ensure the integrity of all data entered in the donor database
- Ensure all funds raised are received and processed as per OMHS policies and Canada Revenue Guidelines.
- Other Duties as requested and/or assigned.
- Post-secondary education and/or equivalent related experience in event planning, sales and fundraising.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in planning successful events in a non-profit environment (equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered).
- Knowledge and experience of the charitable and not-for-profit sector an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective business correspondence and collaboration.

- Self-starter who takes initiative and can work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated track record of attention to detail and the completion of tasks and projects.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and adapt to change using strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong relationship-building skills with an ability to develop a positive rapport with a diverse range of individuals.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and passion for, working in a small, dynamic and growing organization where communication and teamwork is paramount.
- Demonstrated understanding and ability to manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Natural affinity for ensuring fun in the workplace.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and other software applications useful for data management and communications.
- Eager to present and speak in large and small groups.
- Experience coordinating volunteers within a not-for-profit environment is preferred.
- Valid G license with a clear Drivers Abstract.
- Clear Criminal Background Check
- Must be reliable; ability to work all shifts, including weekends, holidays.
