Every year over 5000 individuals and families build better connections with the land through the Ignatius Jesuit Centre’s (IJC)’s retreats, trainings, farm products, trails, and land-based initiatives. IJC’s mission is to cultivate spiritual growth and ecological engagement.  IJC’s 640-acre property has three main programs which include Loyola House, a world-class retreat centre, Ignatius Farm, a community organic training farm offering local access to land and food, and the Old-Growth Forest, a 94-acre conservation and education initiative.

Job Overview:

As the Development & Communications Coordinator you will report directly to the Directors of Operations. You will work closely with staff and volunteers on all aspects of our dynamic organization. You will collaboratively develop communications and development strategies that incorporate the unique aspects of our retreat house, farm, and conservation program. This is a creative position for people who love the challenge of considering different audiences, partners, and community members to weave together a cohesive message and build relationships. This position is on-site to effectively collaborate with all staff, volunteers, and visitors to the Centre.

Job Responsibilities

Development (50%)

  • Create an annual communication plan that aligns with the Centre's mission

  • Develop a communication strategy to boost the Centre's visibility and engage with our audience

  • Foster strong relationships with donors

  • Design and organize IJC e-newsletters

  • Coordinate the processing, receipting, and thanking of all IJC donations

  • Organize donor appeals and donor communications

  • Actively update database to ensure that all information is relevant

  • Participate in Fundraising Committee and other fundraising initiatives

  • Participate in IJC events as needed

Marketing (45%)

  • Develop new branding, and coordinate implementation across all IJC departments

  • Coordinate overall management of website and social media accounts

  • Ensure that content across all platforms is updated regularly and kept current

  • Create content as needed for events, publications, or social media platforms

  • Oversee ongoing advertising in relevant publications

  • Investigate new avenues for advertising and promotion

  • Organize and develop new print materials

Administrative (5%)

  • Manage Marketing Budget

  • Manage IJC software accounts for marketing and development

  • Office Coordinator Back-up when needed

Qualifications:

  • Degree, Diploma, or minimum 2 years’ experience in a field related to fundraising, marketing, communications, graphic design, or content creation for campaigns

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Raiser’s Edge NXT, WordPress, Email communications, and Social Media, are required.

  • Previous experience or interest in nonprofits, fundraising, communications, donor relations, ecology, spirituality, agriculture, or community engagement a strong asset.

  • Ability to collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure all marketing and development activities are carried out effectively

  • Excellent donor relations skills

  • Ability to set goals and attain results within set timelines

  • Strong decision making and organizational capabilities

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
