We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as the Database Administrator. The Database Administrator plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of ministry reporting and the management of academic and operational data processes. This position provides technical analysis support across all data systems, safeguarding mission-critical data integrity. As part of a collaborative team, the Database Administrator is responsible for researching, developing, and implementing new data systems, as well as establishing best practices in data management. Additionally, this role leads various projects, conducts training programs for end-users, and assists with both current and emerging information technologies and projects.

What You'll Do:

Database Management & School Operational Support

  • Provides data extractions as needed for business intelligence and data analysis projects.
  • Monitors school data integrity and consistency, ensuring processes in place for data validation are active and procedures are followed. 
  • Troubleshoots data error(s) and inconsistencies as required.
  • Provides technical support to database users, and liaise with vendors for all system enhancement and technical support issues.
  • Installs upgrades and service packs for different database applications and monitors systems integrations

Ministry Reporting 

  • Leads the program’s use, including; education of University Counselling department and others as needed troubleshooting issues, providing direction on Trevlac data entry and overall system auditing to ensure integrity
  • Leads the continuing Trevlac implementation and system enhancements
  • Leads the Ontario School Information System (ONSIS) reporting for the whole school and influences internal processes for efficient and timely reporting.
  • Leads the student OEN process

Data Governance:

  • Works with the Director School Data and Analytics (Director) on the Data Strategy Plan to develop data inventories (connected to cyber security), data map and other strategic governance documentation and processes.
  • Works with the Director, academic and operational leadership to develop dashboards in support of the BSS Strategic plan and key operational visualization.

Who You Are:

  • Education in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field and/or equivalent experience 
  • Experience in managing data in a relational database environment
  • Experience with SQL server management and associated API integrations
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud systems related to education considered an asset
  • Knowledge of K-12 ministry reporting requirements considered an asset
  • Demonstrates advanced experience using reporting tools
  • Experience developing and monitoring data interfaces, data transfer and data manipulation
  • Experience with data validation, importing, and exporting of data
