Contract Canada Summer Job Community Support Worker
8 weeks – 30 hours a week.

We are dedicated to supporting people with physical and developmental disabilities to have rich and full lives in the community and have control over their lives.

NABORS is a community of people living with a disability in Toronto and our circles of support. Our circles of support are made up of our friends and families who freely give their time to assist us to make informed decisions, act on choices, manage our paid support and feel safe. Members are supported to live in the homes of our choice and be fully included in the community.

The Job:
NABORS is seeking a contract full time Community Support Worker (30 hours a week) who will assist supported members with building community, creating and hosting community event gatherings and working one on one with supported members. Additionally, the Community Support Worker will work with core staff to plan various community events. The Community Support Worker will be hired for 30 hours per week for 8 weeks starting June 10th, 2024.  

The Community Support Worker provides support by:
  • Supporting core staff
  • Plan and host various community events and social gatherings (i.e. games nights, teatime drop ins, music jams, reasons to get together)
  • Getting to know supported members and their interests. Working one on one with projects members would like to achieve during your time working together.
  • Working with supported members and staff to plan for community opportunities to pursue their areas of interest and goals, always keeping in mind safety.
  • Maintaining agency documentation
  • Assisting in relationship building by the development of and support to natural relationships within the member’s family, friends, and community
  • Assisting with the finding of, and participation in, valued roles for the member within his/her home, cooperative living arrangements and community life
NOTE: ** This job is a hybrid position (70% in person/30 % online) **. Therefore, it is required that the applicant have access to:
  • A private location to engage in zoom / facetime calls with core staff.
  • Laptop or iPad to participate in virtual meetings via zoom, facetime, skype etc.
  • Reliable internet
  • Phone
The hiring is conditional upon clearing a Vulnerable Sector Police check.

Vaccination for covid with three doses will be required. Proof of vaccination will be required.

Due to the nature of the funding criteria, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Between 15 and 30 years of age as of June 10th, 2024
  • Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and;
  • Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant Ontario legislation and regulations.
