Community Engagement Coordinator (Maternity Leave Coverage) - The AFC

The AFC is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to maintain and support ongoing public engagement initiatives while a team member is on maternity leave. In this public-facing role, you will sustain established relationships, coordinate existing initiatives, and ensure continuity in outreach, communication, and event execution. The primary goal is to generate awareness of The AFC’s services while fostering a sense of community within Canada’s entertainment industry.
May 2025 – June 2026, part-time (3 days/week)
Flexible Schedule & Remote (Some in-person meetings in Toronto may be required)
What You’ll Do
Industry Events & Engagement

Execute planned online and in-person industry events aligned with The AFC’s communications and engagement plan.

Collaborate with The AFC’s communications team to plan and execute event outreach, promotions, and post-event follow-ups.

Manage event logistics, including virtual platform coordination, ASL and stage management support, and guest facilitators.

Maintain reporting data for all events and track engagement metrics.

Collaborate with event presenters and facilitators to tailor event content and ensure it addresses current concerns in the entertainment sector.

Collect insights on industry trends and topics to provide to the returning staff member for planning the upcoming season of public events.
Community Outreach & Awareness

Maintain and strengthen relationships with established community partners, and industry stakeholders who align with our mission.

Respond to partnership inquiries and facilitate collaborative initiatives as directed.

Maintain The AFC’s presence at pre-scheduled online industry events.

Perform industry research to refresh existing and create new outreach contact lists and opportunities.

Deliver consistent messaging about The AFC’s services by coordinating and distributing outreach materials.

Respond to opportunities for outreach and virtual speaking engagements as directed by the Executive Director.
Strategic Partnerships & Collaboration

Sustain and strengthen relationships with industry organizations to expand The AFC’s network and impact.

Participate in planning and strategy meetings as necessary to ensure emergent public engagement initiatives are in alignment with The AFC’s ongoing objectives.

Work with the Executive Director to explore new partnership opportunities and enhance The AFC’s reach.

Respond to partnership inquiries and facilitate collaborative initiatives as directed.

Document and track engagement activities to ensure continuity and consistency during the maternity leave period.
What We’re Looking For

Knowledge of or experience in the entertainment industry and its unique challenges.

Experience in community engagement, event coordination, or stakeholder relations.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Adaptability in dynamic live event settings, with the ability to respond effectively to unforeseen challenges and changes.

Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.

Proficiency in Raiser's Edge, Microsoft Teams, Monday.com, and Microsoft 365 is an asset.

Experience with Zoom meetings and webinars is an asset.
