As the Communications Officer you will join our small, highly collaborative team working to represent, advocate for and advance the interests of CIPP’s members. Working with CIPP’s Organizer, you will play a key role providing communications support to amplify members’ sense of ownership for their union, further develop their understanding of the union’s role and increase member engagement in strategies that build union power.

What will you do?
- Provide communications support to union organizing work in preparation for bargaining
- Develop and implement the union’s digital communications work including the email program (Action Network), website management (WordPress) and social media
- Coordinate, write and oversee the design work to produce the 2024/2025 annual report
- Plan and execute the 2025 AGM including event logistics and communications aspects
- Plan and execute annual Lunch Break events including logistics and communications in collaboration with the Organiser
- Produce print materials to support union activities and events in collaboration with colleagues
- Oversee and coordinate contracts related to communications work
- Design and deliver creative, high-impact digital and print communication campaigns to respond to labour relations realities in union member workplaces in collaboration with colleagues
- Use a range of data analytics to measure the reach and effectiveness of communications,
- Work with staff, members and volunteers, to deliver member engagement and mobilization initiatives
- University degree in a related field or equivalent experience,
- Two to three years of experience working in communication or a related area for a union, association, or not-for-profit organization,
- Demonstrated experience working with digital communications platforms and digital strategies,
- Effective plain language digital writing style with ability to sustain a compelling organizational voice and strong editing skills,
- Strategic thinker, detail-oriented, highly motivated with excellent judgement,
- Highly collaborative, results-focused approach to work,
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and other relevant software,
- Experience managing contractors,
- Strong analytical abilities and superior problem-solving skills,
- French language proficiency is a strong asset.
- Multimedia skills (e.g., design, audio/video) are an asset.
