COMPENSATION: $ 46,579 - $ 47,432 Annually Prorated
Shift: 11:00pm-7:00am (Sun-Thu)

To help fulfill its mission, LOFT is hiring a Cleaner.


Job Summary:

The Cleaner is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the designated offices and communal areas of the facility. This includes washing windows, cleaning washrooms, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, washing, scrubbing, waxing and polishing floors, according to maintenance standards and established schedules, and for other cleaning duties as delegated by the coordinator. The Cleaner also works in liaison with the Superintendent in controlling the cleaning supplies inventory. The Cleaner is responsible for assisting the Personal Support staff in case of emergency or other situations under his/her direction, as applicable to the shift requirements.  Since the workplace involves working in resident / tenant member’s own homes, staff may be subjected to secondhand smoke while performing their job duties. LOFT’s Back to Home Program at Tudhope Manor in Orillia, offers specialized high support, supportive housing to individuals 55+ who are designated ALC or at risk of ALC. The home has 44 beds.

Our high support includes specialized Personal Support Workers, Psychogeriatric Case Managers, Life Enrichment and Behavioral Supports. Staff receive enhanced training related to mental health, addictions, psychosocial rehabilitation, responsive behaviors, and dementia.


*Note: Staff may be required to work days, evening, overnights and weekend shifts as we are a 24hour supportive housing assisted living site. Staff will be required to work in residents’ rooms and may therefore be exposed to second hand smoke.


What You Will Do?
  • To clean and maintain the building for Crosslinks Seniors through the day, by:
  • Mopping, washing, Garbage removal, waxing, buffing, dusting and/or vacuuming of client rooms, bathrooms, and communal areas in the building according to established schedules and procedures given by the Property Management Coordinator and or the Program Director.
  • Removing snow or leaves from walkway, as required;
  • Monitoring security of the building, ensuring that doors are locked, and alarms activated; responding to calls from Security firm;
  • Reporting on any required repairs or unusual occurrences in the building or regarding residents, to supervisor and/ or Personal Support staff;
  • Responding to, and following protocols regarding fire or other building emergencies;
  • Assisting Personal Support staff respond to emergencies or other incidents with residents as required;
  • Completing required work sheets, attending staff meetings as required.


What You Bring:

Must Haves
  • Ability to organize and work with individuals and groups in the areas of assessment, program planning and problem solving.
  • Physical ability to provide cleaning to the building including the safe operation of household mechanical equipment;
  • 1 - 2 years’ experience, and/or knowledge of building cleaning in a large residential setting;
  • Ability to work on own, or as directed;
  • Ability to respond to building or resident emergencies and follow established protocols;
  • Ability to speak and write in English, good interpersonal skills to interact with seniors;
  • Knowledge of health and safety, WHMIS, emergency building protocols;
