City Programs Manager - Role Description

Role Summary: Moorelands City Programs Manager
Working to fulfill the mission, vision and values of Moorelands Kids/Moorelands Community Services, the Moorelands City Programs Manager role leads at Moorelands Kids in the areas of: program oversight, recruiting and leading staff and volunteers, outreach and community relationship building, and supports all agency fundraising efforts. This Full time, in-person role, initially starts with a contract. Salary is commensurate with experience.

General:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the City Programs Manager* develops, oversees, and evaluates recreation and social/life-skills programs delivered in partnership with community organizations for children and youth aged 6 to 16 who face socio-economic barriers.   

Qualifications:
  • Minimum four years’ experience working in multicultural settings directly with children and youth from low-income neighbourhoods
  • Minimum two years’ experience creating and evaluating programs for children and youth and supervising staff and volunteers
  • Driving license; G level, experienced driver with a clean record
  • Related post-secondary degree, diploma or equivalent experience
  • Proven leadership, coaching and mentoring skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including listening, and being empathetic
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, professional and positive manner
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, proven ability to multi-task to deadlines
  • Solid computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet and data base management
  • Administrative experience including budget planning and management, report writing
  • Discretion, tact and good judgment
Responsibilities:
  • Oversees, implements, and evaluates developmentally appropriate programming, in priority communities. Leads program development based on data informed decisions.
  • Prepares department and individual program budgets and tracks program expenses
  • Recruits, trains, directs, supervises, mentors and evaluates staff and volunteers
  • Leads expansion efforts conducting research and outreach, recruiting new partners, agencies, community groups and parents
  • Builds strong positive relationships with partner organizations, social service agencies, community groups and parents
  • Participates and represents the agency in aligned, collaborative community groups
  • Leads community outreach for City Programs; creates and distributes promotional material and makes presentations in schools and community centres
  • Participates in the preparation of funding proposals and program reports
  • Prepares job descriptions, staff and program manuals, training materials etc.
  • Plays active role in the staff team, agency and internal Program team, and from time to time, interfaces with relevant board committees/members
  • Works collaboratively with the Program team on program development
  • Promotes the Moorelands brand and programs through presentations to interested groups including parents, schools and donors
  • Prepares department and individual program budgets and tracks program expenses
