Church & Teams Engagement Officer - Hope Story

Hope Story is a Christian charity helping vulnerable children around the world access health, education, and discipleship. Working in partnership with local, in-country churches, our work spans the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East. In this, our 25th year, we stand at an important crossroads in our story. We are positioned to serve many more children and youth –  if we can share our unique approach with a growing number of Canadians. 

Church & Teams Engagement Officer

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Church & Teams Engagement Officer will help expand Hope Story's network of supporters in Southwestern Ontario and across Canada.

Teams – 40%
  • Organize and/or lead 6-8 "vision teams" annually to engage key churches, volunteers and donors in Hope Story’s mission
  • Establish strategy and targets to develop these team members into more fully engaged supporters (monthly giving, major gifts, prayer)
  • Support international staff in hosting teams
  • Refine and implement administrative systems to safely and efficiently send teams 
  • Conduct orientations and debrief
Churches – 20%
  • Develop opportunities to connect with church leaders at churches and events
  • Network with Hope Story staff, board, donors to develop new leads and widen Hope Story’s network of supportive Canadian churches.
  • Work with Executive Director to establish clear and measurable goals for Hope Story’s interactions with Canadian church partners
Volunteer Mobilization – 20%
  • Recruit and mobilize experienced volunteers who can lead vision teams and increase Canadian exposure to Hope Story.
  • Recruit and mobilize other volunteers who will champion Hope Story in churches, participate in peer-to-peer fundraising, and generally increase awareness of Hope Story's work.
Events & Other - 20%
  • Promote Hope Story events among champions and churches.
  • Provide communications support (writing, video, social media etc.) to promote teams.
Candidate Profile 
  • Bachelor of Theology or related degree
  • Experience working with Canadian churches (or within a particular church body) 
  • Flexible schedule - able to travel internationally, as well as within Canada and USA
  • Confident public speaker
  • Disciplined networker
  • Proven administrative skills
