Child and Family Therapist - Renew Supervision Services

Jul 26, 2024
Ottawa, Ontario

A Permanent, Full-Time position is available for a Child and Family Therapist in our Ottawa office. The candidate must have at least three years of post-grad degree experience in the field of high-conflict family counselling and post-separation parent-child contact problems.

This position provides an opportunity for growth within this sector. Work is expected to be primarily with children, youth, and parents with children resisting contact post-separation. It will include a combination of individual counselling, family counselling, reunification therapy, and parenting programs. A combination of in-person and virtual practice should be expected.

Hours of work
This is a full-time position for a maximum of 37.5 hours / week.  Most of the therapist’s hours will take place between 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday with additional evenings/weekends as per the needs of the clients.

Position Requirements
The candidate must have a master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or other graduate degree from an accredited university and post-graduate training in individual and family therapy. Advanced knowledge of high-conflict relationships, intimate partner violence, child protection services, and child, adolescent and adult trauma treatment is essential; this is not an entry to practice position.

Furthermore, the candidate is expected to have a working knowledge of local services and supports for this population. Applicants are excellent communicators and able to manage all aspects of a caseload with support from Renew’s management and multi-disciplinary team. Registration with the appropriate professional College is mandatory.

This is an opportunity to work in a growing field that includes training and supervision.

Renew Supervision Services
Renew Supervision Services supports parents who, for various reasons, lost some degree of access to their children – either through Court Orders or the parents themselves had decided for safety reasons that one parent must be supervised when alone with their child.

Mental health, drug or substance abuse, prolonged periods of estrangements, or allegations of abuse toward their child or former partner are among the leading causes for such court orders. Renew helps clients by offering services that address these underlying factors and helps parents responsibly move from supervised to unsupervised access with their children.
