The Ktunaxa Nation Council has an exciting opportunity for a Chief Financial Officer in Cranbrook, BC. Reporting to the CAO, this role is ideal for a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) or someone with a similar designation. The successful candidate will possess exceptional advisory and communication skills and have diverse experience navigating unconventional and complex accounting environments. The ideal candidate will share an Indigenous perspective on self-sufficiency, inspire confidence in staff, Leadership, and the Ktunaxa First Nations, and bring a progressive philosophy of financial management to the KNC.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership in financial planning, ensuring alignment with the KNC's goals and objectives.
  • Business Planning: Deliver exceptional modeling and forecasting to support informed decision-making.
  • Forward Thinking: Adapt to changing mandates and governments while maintaining the ability to provide solid advice to strengthen KNC’s position with government bodies.
  • Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with the Ktunaxa First Nations and Sector Directors.
  • Financial Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and accountability to the Finance Board and KNC Leadership.
Key Requirements:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • University degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience leading accounting teams.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal and provincial programs and policies related to First Nations governments.
  • Utmost commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and ethical fiscal management
