Position Summary:

The Building Maintenance Technician will be engaged on a fee-for-service basis, working under agreed-upon terms of reference and confirmed costs for specific tasks. The role involves a variety of maintenance services, including repairs, preventive maintenance, and general infrastructure support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections and address maintenance needs proactively.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards throughout the facility.
  • Assist with general tasks such as painting, carpentry, and equipment installations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with external contractors and service providers as needed.
  • Provide clear documentation of completed work and associated costs.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in building maintenance or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or a similar role.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repair procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and meet agreed-upon service standards and timelines.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and operating tools.
  • Proximity to North York or ability to commute regularly to the Jane/Wilson area is essential.
Fee-for-Service Arrangement:
  • This is a contract-based role, with payment provided based on completed work and pre-established rates.
  • An agreed-upon Terms of Reference (TOR) will outline the scope of work, expectations, and costs before initiating any tasks.
  • All work and associated costs must be confirmed and documented prior to commencement.
