Bridging Generations Coordinator - Caledon Meals on Wheels
Position Summary
The Project Coordinator will play a key role in the Bridging Generations: Voices and Vision Project. This initiative aims to foster intergenerational connections between youth and seniors through engaging community programs. The Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting youth volunteers to participate in friendly visiting activities and contribute to a unique podcast series that amplifies the voices of seniors. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a passion for community building, social media and marketing experience, and a commitment to reducing social isolation among seniors.
This position specifically seeks candidates aged 30 or younger, as part of our commitment to supporting youth employment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement:

Develop and implement strategies to recruit, engage, and retain a diverse group of youth volunteers for the project.

Provide training and ongoing support to youth volunteers, ensuring they understand their roles in friendly visiting and podcast production, and promoting meaningful interactions with seniors.

Collaborate with other team members to schedule and coordinate friendly visiting activities, as well as podcast sessions that capture seniors’ stories, ensuring smooth operation of the project.

Track volunteer activities and program impact, providing regular updates and reports to project management, and identifying opportunities to enhance engagement and outreach.

Promote Intergenerational Understanding: Facilitate workshops or group sessions to help youth volunteers understand and appreciate the experiences of seniors, fostering empathy and connection.
Client Engagement:

Establish and nurture positive, trusting relationships with clients to understand and meet their individual needs and preferences, fostering a supportive and inclusive community.
Social Media and Podcast Development:

Podcast Development: Assist in the production and coordination of the podcast platform, supporting youth volunteers in recording, editing, and sharing seniors' stories.
Community Outreach and Partnerships:

Collaborate with team members, local organizations and community groups to enhance program offerings.

Assist in promoting Caledon Meals on Wheels' programs at events and community meetings.
Qualifications:

Diploma or degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation Leadership, Social Work, Gerontology, Health Promotion, or a related field.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role, preferably working with individuals 55+.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate clients and volunteers.

Knowledge of community resources and services available to seniors.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.

Strong experience managing social media platforms.
