Pay: $40 to $50/ hour, 15-20 hours/month
About Success Beyond Limits (SBL)
Our focus is to reduce the impact of external factors that negatively affect the educational success of youth in Jane-Finch. We operate a 6-week summer program that offers credits, mentorship, youth employment, enrichment, nutrition, engagement, graduation, and relationship building. We continue our support through our presence within Westview Centennial Secondary School, where we operate a Youth Space. Through this space, our staff support youth during the school day, run an after-school program, and connect youth to an array of diverse opportunities throughout the year.
Position Summary
The bookkeeper will be developing a good working knowledge of the daily operations of the organization including filing systems, and electronic files. Supporting accurate financial data and compliance. Also maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations, monthly financial reporting, and record payments and adjustments. This position will work closely with the Executive Director, Operations.

This position will work closely with the Executive Director, Operations.
Responsibilities
- Input invoices, and any associated supporting documents including calculating tax rebates
- Perform regular reconciliations of accounts, including bank reconciliations statements to receipts for payment as per expenditure guidelines
- Processes and maintains account payable ensuring timeliness and accuracy of information, according to established procedures
- Codes and files financial material
- Prepare monthly operational financial statements for management
- Support management and external auditor during annual audit
- Prepare HST rebate
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Operations
- Abides by relevant legislation including all Ontario Human Rights Codes
- Participates in internal and external meetings and committees when needed
- Keeps Co-Executive Directors informed and up to date on relevant issues
- Degree in accounting/bookkeeping or equivalent
- Minimum of two years’ experience in bookkeeping for a charitable or non-profit organization
- Thorough knowledge and experience in all aspects of bookkeeping and basic accounting principles and practices
- Proficient in the use of QuickBooks and Excel
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy
- Ability to organize workload to ensure cyclical deadlines will be met and to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- A vulnerable sector police check will be required if hired
- Understands ethical behavior and business practices to ensure own behaviour and the behaviour of others are consistent with the standards that align with the values of the organization
- Is able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to achieve the goals of the organization
- Focuses on organization needs: anticipates, understands and responds to the needs of the organization in a timely manner
- Works cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness

- Sets priorities, develops work schedules and monitors progress toward goals.
