YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SERVICES – WORKABILITY PROGRAM

Location:  555 Richmond Street West

Kindly note that we are temporarily operating via a hybrid model of in-office and remote work.

The WorkAbility program is about driving impact, meeting and exceeding the objectives and developing partnerships with employers.

Activities will include hosting hiring fairs to provide employers with talent pools of unemployed persons with mental health disabilities; developing and hosting Information sessions on inclusion and accessibility to support the hiring, inclusion, retention, and career advancement of persons with mental health disabilities; profiling employers with positive hiring practices for persons with mental health disabilities; engaging employers at conferences and knowledge sharing events; disseminate educational materials and information tools to employers and; supporting employer-led peer-to-peer networking, mentoring and information-sharing on best practices for increasing the accessibility and inclusiveness of workplaces for persons with disabilities. This position will primarily assist employers in Quebec but will also provide support to the other provinces involved in the project (B.C., Alberta and Manitoba).

Program Manager – 1 Permanent Position ($69,500)

Responsibilities: 

  • Host information sessions/workshops to better prepare employers and staff to work with persons with disabilities. Provide tools, resources and education to employers on:
    • How to support the inclusion of persons with disabilities into the workplace
    • Handling employee disclosures and accommodations
    • Mental Health 101 for workplace leaders
  • Promoting strategies, programs and tools available to employers to help them include persons with disabilities into the labour market through hiring fairs and the development of toolkit modules
  • Developing employer policies and procedures to include prospective employees with disabilities.
  • Marketing and Outreach – develop program materials, ensuring they are translated to French
  • Monitor revenue stream, and report on progress to management as required
  • Contribute to the overall accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of financial reporting
  • Identifying project targets and milestones, and working with the project team to achieve the milestones
  • Defining project deliverables, and ensuring that deliverables are completed within the project timeline and meet the quality required
  • Establishing priorities, coordinating and supporting the project team members in their roles
  • Identifying risks and mitigating strategies;
  • Actively participate in meetings with immediate supervisor, including the creation, periodic review, and year-end evaluation of performance targets
  • Actively participate in YES program activities, meetings, and committees, as required and/or assigned
  • Attend designated meetings as a representative of YES and actively participate in committees related to project initiatives
  • Comply with all YES policies and procedures and ensure strict confidentiality is maintained on all client, personnel, and agency matters
  • Always represent YES in a professional and inclusive manner
  • Hire, train and supervise team members
  • Lead and motivate team members through personal example and a commitment to results and service excellence
  • Communicate effectively to all staff regarding performance targets, desired outcomes, procedures, or changes in guidelines  
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of best practices in mental health policy and programming
  • 5-10 years’ experience in managing large scale projects
  • Sound knowledge of the non-profit sector.
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and telephonic communication skills
  • Conversant in latest research and best practices in the workforce development and IT fields
  • Must be fully bilingual in French and English
