Position Overview:

The Assistant Director of Care is accountable to the Director of Care for the day-to-day management of the nursing department and resident care services. Through effective management of all resources in the nursing envelope and development of a strong nursing team, the ADOC ensures the delivery of optimal care and service, based on the legislative requirements and standards of the Ottawa Grace Manor. Assumes responsibilities of the Nursing Department as required in the absence of the Director of Care.

Contributes to the development and implementation of nursing philosophy, goals, policies, and resident care services while ensuring alignment with legislative and professional standards. Assists the Director of Care in managing staff and overseeing the planning, coordination, and evaluation of care to meet residents’ needs and expectations. Collaborates with healthcare professionals, hospitals, and community partners to ensure the effective delivery of quality care.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or equivalent education.
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing.
  • Current certification in First Aid/CPR.
  • Knowledgeable in the current Standards of Practice established by the College of Nurses.
  • Ability to provide a satisfactory Background Check with vulnerable sector screening (secured through CPIC or local police detachment).
  • Over 3 – 5 years of progressive nursing experience, including gerontological nursing.
  • Experience in a senior nursing leadership role with program planning, education, union relations, accreditation, and budgeting.
