Accounting Clerk (P/T 3 days per week) - Toronto Foundation for Student Success

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Clerk provides broad support to the Finance Department in addition to the responsibilities listed below.
  • Process invoices for payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting & recording accounts payable data
  • Collaborate with the Food and Logistics team to review and verify large volume of invoices
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and ensure accuracy of entries
  • Monitor vendor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and issues by corresponding to vendor inquiries
  • Assist with month-end closing activities.
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits
  • Maintain accurate and organized vendor files and records
  • Other clerical and administrative duties as assigned
This is a part-time opportunity, working three days per week (21 hours per week). Work days are flexible; we will work with the successful individual to determine which three days of the week work best. This position is eligible to participate in the hybrid/in-office work program, with one day per week working remotely.

Education, Experience and Skills

Requirements:
  • Minimum 2+ years of proven working experience as an Accounting Clerk (or in a similar role)
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and accounting software
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • High degree of integrity and confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure
