On May 14th, 2020 TalentEgg, Career Connections, the Insurance Institute of Canada and video interview partner VideoBio virtually hosted the final round of the inaugural Pitch Competition for students and new grads.
10 teams, from some of Canada’s top business schools, each prepared a pitch on dynamic and innovative ways to inspire and empower post-secondary students to pursue a career in insurance. The final round saw the Top 5 teams pitch their ideas to an esteemed panel of judges from all facets of the insurance industry.
The competition was fierce and offered an opportunity for students to put their creative, analytical, problem solving and presentation skills to the test. The competition was also a creative and low-stakes way for judges to engage with students interested in a career in insurance.
Congratulations to the Winners!

Competition partner Trevor Buttrum, from Career Connections at the Insurance Institute of Canada, also had this to say about the competition:
And a big thank you to the judges for their participation, support and feedback!
Here is what the judges had to say about the talented competition participants and their presentations:
Vice President, Insurance Operations at HUB International
“The benefit [of the competition for the judges] really is creating a dialogue [with students]. There are a lot of bright individuals that are still in the education system that are coming up and who will be great assets to the insurance industry.”
Talent Acquisition Specialist at Wawanesa
“It was a really fun day and some of the ideas the students came up with were really creative, and they were things I myself would put into practice. There were a lot of great takeaways and it also allowed me to network with students who could be potential employees one day as well as other industry professionals.”
As a part of the Pitch Competition registration and first round submission process, participants uploaded their resume and video elevator pitch on the TalentEgg Candidate Showcase. This has also helped them get noticed by employers! Learn how you can upload yours too.
