by

Whether you’re a student or a new grad, you can still enjoy April Fool’s Day!

While you always need to be wary of workplace culture and company policies, a few harmless pranks here and there can be a fun way to break the ice with co-workers.

Haven’t prepped anything in advance? Don’t worry – we scoured the internet for some fun last-minute gags (that won’t land you in a meeting with HR!)

When an unsuspecting co-worker leaves their computer unattended, quickly flip their screen upside down!

PCs: Hit Ctrl+Alt+Down arrow. (To reverse, hit Ctrl+Alt+Up arrow)
Macs: Open System Preferences, and click “Display” while holding Ctrl+Option. A new menu called Rotation will appear – use this to flip the display (or undo).

2. “Voice activated” technology

Place an official-looking note on a hand dryer, photocopier, or any other piece of high-traffic equipment with instructions for using the new, “updated” voice-activated system. Sit back and watch hilarity ensue.

Still have some leftover decorations from Halloween? Put up some pretend police tape, and outline a “body” on the floor in tape. It’s a perfect prank for a crime-drama obsessed colleague!

This one definitely has “shock” value. And if “Cage” decor isn’t your thing, choose another startling image on the net. (Just make sure it’s work-appropriate!)

5. Add some “cat-titude”!

This prank might actually make a cat-lover’s day! Cute puppies are also a tried-and-true theme. This is also a great idea if they have a work locker you can decorate.

6. Be a “wrap artist”

Just keeping it fresh. For extra frustration, hide the scissors and watch your co-worker struggle to rip through layers of plastic wrap. (How many layers? That will depend on you…)

7. Writer’s block

Get some clear nail polish and paint over the tips of your victim’s pens. They’ll go nuts trying to figure out why all their writing instruments stopped working at the same time!

To reverse: dip the tips of the pens in nail polish remover. Presto!

8. The “Blue Screen of Death”
