HR Grad Went From Intern To Employee Experience Co-ordinator At Kobo


Long before Amanda Standidge started working for Kobo, she was a huge fan of the company and its products. She even pre-ordered a Kobo eReader before it was released!

That interest inspired her to learn more about the company and its career opportunities. She spent months searching for jobs at Kobo that fit her education and experience – at the time, she was a Human Resources Management graduate from Sheridan College who worked in the emergency room of a Mississauga hospital.

Eventually, Kobo was hiring an HR Intern, so she applied and went through the interview process. Amanda says it was her emergency room experience that caught her boss’ eye – it demonstrated she could work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

She thought that, in her first job, she would be filing papers, answering phones and getting coffee, but after only a year at Kobo she’s had the opportunity to work on many important and innovative projects.

It was her drive, determination and hard work that impressed her boss, and allowed her to go from intern to full-time, permanent employee, she says. Today, she works as an Employee Experience Co-ordinator.
