Getting To Know KPMG At Executive Look

by

Students from schools across Canada travelled to Toronto this summer for KPMG’s first annual Executive Look event.

During this two-day event, students took part in a ton of fun activities to help them get to know what it’s like to work at KPMG. Most importantly, they met KPMG’s executive team, including CEO Bill Thomas.

“Executive Look allows students to learn the career options they have at CA firms, specifically KPMG,” said Stephen Novalski, Talent Attraction Manager in GTA Campus Recruiting at KPMG. “We do it in an interesting way in that we bring in our top executives, so just about everyone from the CEO, the CFO, our heads of HR and marketing, all come out and meet the students to give their experiences on the firm and the career options here as well.”

“It’s just so great to meet everyone from across Canada and there are also a lot of executives. Even the CEO of KPMG came out to talk to us, which is really exciting.”

TalentEgg stopped by KPMG’s offices in downtown Toronto on Day 2 to check out the event and speak to students about their experiences.

Mandy Cheung, a third-year accounting student at the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia, came all the way from Vancouver. She said she’s always been interested in KPMG and that’s why she applied to attend the event. “It’s just so great to meet everyone from across Canada and there are also a lot of executives. Even the CEO of KPMG came out to talk to us, which is really exciting.”

Balpreet Singh, a third year BBA student at York University’s Schulich School of Business, said his highlight was the “Amazing Race” activity they took part in on the morning of the second day. “We raced around downtown Toronto, gathering different clues and solving puzzles and having to do different tasks. It was a great bonding experiences with the five of us who were a group.”

We also got to check out the recruitment panel, where members of KPMG’s Talent Attraction team explained how to impress them during the recruitment process.
