TalentEgg’s “Working Knowledge” In The Globe And Mail’s Canadian University Report Today

The Globe and Mail’s Canadian University Report magazine was released today in newspapers across Canada and online.

However, the egg-citement has been mounting here at the Egg Carton for months because we spent most of the summer and part of September planning, compiling, writing and editing a ton of content for the magazine.

TalentEgg’s editor, summer editorial assistant and a handful of our contributors put together 25 pages of content for the magazine, which is contained within the middle “Working Knowledge” section, from pages 18 to 45.

The content is designed to help high school students and their parents plan their post-secondary education with their future careers in mind in seven disciplines: Engineering & Technology, Arts & Humanities, Education, Sciences & Maths, Health & Medical, Fine & Performing Arts, and Business & Commerce.

Each section features an introductory career outlook, “from class to career” stories of recent grads, programs you may not know about (but should), an example of one career path, and what employers want, as well as the top education and career preparation rankings of large, medium, small and very small universities across Canada.

Thank you to all of the amazing recent grads in the TalentEgg network who agreed to share their “from class to career” stories with us and the rest of Canada, as well as the generous employers who provided us with invaluable info about what they’re looking for when they hire students and recent grads: Pason, IBM, Xerox Canada, Yellow Pages Group, Cameco, Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, Yukon Department of Education, Talisman Energy, Trillium Health Centre, Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region, Manitoba Theatre Centre, Shaw Festival, KPMG, and GE Canada.

Before heading off to The Globe and Mail’s editors, the “Working Knowledge” section was compiled, written and edited by TalentEgg’s editor, me; summer editorial assistant, Danielle Lorenz; and some of the contributors you read every day here on the Career Incubator: Elizabeth Baisley, David Cadiente, Katie Flood, José Gonzalez, Jacqueline Martinz, Simi Pannu, Katherine Rageth, Mira Saraf, Vicky Tobianah, Jillian Wood, Nicole Wray and Jeleen Yu.

You can read the content on GlobeCampus.ca, as well as online in e-zine and PDF formats.
