Starting a sales career at a company like Xerox Canada is like running your own small business with the support an international brand, says Amelia Bourbonnais, a Recruitment Specialist with Xerox Canada.
Xerox Canada and Xerox Agencies typically hires for entry-level business-to-business sales where sales representatives sell within a defined territory and develop their business skills. New reps go through a three-month training program to learn about the company’s products and sales process.
And although sales is very business oriented, Bourbonnais says successful sales reps don’t necessarily have a background in sales or marketing-some of her best sales representatives have degrees in history, political science and other non-business degrees.
Ideally, she says, potential sales reps should have retail sales or full-commission sales experience on their resumé because, like most careers in sales, the roles at Xerox are mostly compensated with commission.
In terms of personality, Bourbonnais says sales reps should be dynamic and motivated, comfortable on their feet, and goal oriented.
