Video Blog: Resumé advice from the employment services leader at McMaster University

While at the McMaster 2010 Career Expo “Who’s Hiring?” event, Kim Pedlar, employment services leader at McMaster, gave Lauren some resumé tips for students and recent grads:

  • Make sure you have a very tailored resumé
  • There’s no such thing as bad experience
  • Use your summers wisely because without experience there’s nothing to put on a resumé

“Core competencies” section on a resumé

  • Best used by senior students
  • It’s a great tool to help you tailor your resumé
  • If you’re coming from a degree that doesn’t apply directly to the job, then take advantage of this space
