Meet Aaron, a third-year retail management student at the Ryerson University Ted Rogers School of Management. He volunteered at the retail management career fair there in February 2010.
In the video, Aaron explains what he’s looking for from an ideal employer:
- A company that will teach him how to adapt to their environment
- A company that will allow for the solving of problems
- A company that utilizes his people skills
In terms of what prospective retail industry employees must bring to the table, Aaron stressed the fact that it’s not just about students’ education—employers often value experience over education when hiring.
If you can marry experience with education and show that you are involved, that you’re interested and that you’re capable, a career in retail awaits!
