Research on the financial implications of sustainable and energy efficient commercial real estate has developed into a mainstream topic over the past ten years. Early work examined impacts of green building certification on rental and occupancy rates, with more recent work studying corporate implications to the owners and users of green space, through a variety of lenses.
Dr. Avis Devine, a Schulich School of Business faculty member and researcher specializing in this field, will discuss her related research. Multifamily, office, and retail space implications will be discussed, as will risk/return implications for corporate green space owners and users - including a discussion of the research on Canadian commercial real estate.
