Position Summary
This role supports the timely and accurate reporting of associate occupational illness and injury claims, and ensures that all such claims are effectively managed in compliance with provincial legislation and Walmart policy, mitigating lost time and related expense through a robust early and safe return-to-work program.

Position Responsibilities
Collaborates with store management and field operations partners to ensures the timely and accurate reporting into Walmart home office of associate occupational illness and injury claims. Provide guidance and training to store management and field operations partners on company return-to-work policy, compliance with provincial legislation, and strategies to mitigate related costs. Ensures that all workers compensation claims are reported to provincial boards in compliance with legislation, including any updates or changes in status that require further updated reporting. Collects and analyzes all information received from stores related to potential workers compensation claims, and advises store management on information gathering and reporting requirements. Ensures that all claims are effectively managed in compliance with provincial legislation and Walmart policy, mitigating lost time and expense through oversight of early and safe return-to-work program. Liaise with workers compensation board personnel, store management, third party service providers and associates to clarify limitations, restrictions and barriers for return to work. Make appropriate recommendations in arranging return to work plans. Review functional abilities, physical demands analysis, and related job descriptions to ensure return-to-work plans are appropriate and effective to reduce the lost time days and costs associated with workplace incidents. Develop appropriate action plans. Identify and request cast recovery and cost avoidance opportunities at initial submissions, up to and including Board Appeal and Tribunal Hearings. Where applicable, submit written objections to workers compensation board with supporting arguments and information. Analyze accident and lost time information and oversee and approve action plans for stores. Provide weekly and bi-weekly reports at Store level, including solutions to claim related issues, where applicable. Maintain associate injury data base to ensure accurate claims documentation. Identify and report trends to compliance team.

Bachelor’s Degree 3 years

Licensing & Other Qualifications
Certified Human Resources Professional designation an asset.
Disability Management Certificate an asset.
Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC) an asset.
