Co-ops & Internships
To see whether Vale might be the place for you, answer these questions:
- Do you want to get a head start on your career?
- Do you want to find out about the working world while you're still in school?
- Do you want an above-average wage to help to pay for next semester's tuition?
If you answer yes to any of the above, then our extensive co-op and internship programs are for you.
During your term of four, eight, 12 or 16 months, you'll work and learn alongside other students and Vale's skilled professionals in one of many locations across Canada. You'll be making a genuine contribution to our workplace and you'll discover the world of possibilities Vale can offer. Due to the extensive opportunities, many of our co-op students and interns choose to start their full-time careers with us after they graduate.
Our co-op and intern positions will be posted throughout the year as they're available.
"I'm happy that I was a part of such a welcoming and kind team. Everyone on the PMO team encouraged me to learn and took the time to ensure I felt supported. The team has helped build my excel skills, problem solving and confidence in the work place. The PMO team supports many areas of HR, thus allowing me to gain a holistic experience and understanding of my own team's role as well as other functions of HR."Sarah Kinley, Project Management Co-op

"Working as an intern for a global mining company seemed overwhelming at first, but the Talent Management team welcomed me with open arms and has provided me with continuous support since day one. I had the opportunity to take ownership of a wide variety of projects all the while developing critical technical and professional skills."Arany Navaratnarajah, Talent Management Intern

"My experience as a Co-op Intern within Vale's Corporate Affairs department has been incredibly dynamic, challenging, and rewarding. Since joining Vale, the Corporate Affairs team has consistently encouraged me to share my thoughts and ideas - I have been very fortunate to be ... mentored by a group of intelligent, passionate, and accomplished leaders who offer strong support and value open dialogue. Working at Vale as a public policy student has been an exciting and unique experience that has allowed me to gain invaluable private sector experience. As Canada is poised to capitalize on the global rising demand for critical minerals, largely due to their role in the transition to a low-carbon and digitized economy, my experience at Vale has allowed me to further consider important policy questions, such as how the natural resource sector and governments can work together to advance a shared agenda." Immediately I felt part of the team and was able to contribute ideas to the group.
