This position will provide research support for a Stop TB Partnership funded TB REACH grant.  The Research Associate will join a strong team of leaders and public health practitioners in tuberculosis research. The project will be based at the DLSPH but in close collaboration with public health agencies in Tibet and the national TB program in China.

The objective of the study is to implement cloud-based electronic monitors in TB patients in two districts of Shigatse, Tibet. All patients will be provided with an e-monitor that sends real-time dosing information using mobile connectivity to a cloud-based system, which is connected with routine TB reports. Adherence information stored in the cloud will be presented in an app in WeChat, a social media program widely used in Tibetans. Through the WeChat app, patients will have direct but independent communications with their treatment supporters and doctors. This is designed as a randomized controlled trial where patients will be followed up for 6 months to compare adherence and treatment outcomes. The second objective of the study is to assess the acceptability, feasibility and adaptability of the interventions through qualitative studies.

The candidate will engage with the research through project management and scholarly participation and contributions to the project through activities including but not limited to: questionnaire design, data collection and analysis, intervention design and implementation, data management and quality assurance, and writing reports and academic publications.
The candidate will collaborate closely with the main partner, Shigatse Centre for Disease Control, and participate in every aspect of the study from patient recruitment, implementation, quality control to dissemination. Furthermore, the candidate will assist in the organization of meetings, training sessions, and other materials used in the studies.
