Associate Relations Specialist

Brampton, Ontario
Early Career

Here at TJX Canada, we strive our hardest to make sure that, every day, our customers are able to find the latest and greatest designer brand names for less than they'd pay elsewhere. When they walk in the doors of our stores, whether it's a Winners, HomeSense, or Marshalls, savvy shoppers know they'll experience the "Thrill of the Find," which, if you're curious, feels like a slight breeze blowing over the surface of your skin-not a bad feeling, if we do say so ourselves.

But you're not here to feel the breeze. You're here to see if working with TJX Canada is right for you. To help with your decision, we'd like to introduce you to someone who once faced the same choice you have to make.

Meet Kyle.

As one of our Associate Relations Specialists, Kyle provides the coaching, counseling, and facilitating resolution of Associate and Labour Relations issues. He is also responsible for the development of programs and initiatives that further these distribution services.

What Kyle loves to do in his off hours is puzzles -- in all shapes, sizes, and levels of difficulty. From the first time he solved a Rubik's Cube to his ability to finish a Soduku book in record time, if it involves a good amount of deciphering then Kyle is definitely going to be intrigued!

This is Kyle's story. He is one of us.

But know this. If you do decide to apply for this position, and we agree that this is the right job for you, you'll be supported by a plethora of internal programs whose only focus is the continued progress of your career. At TJX Canada, we do everything we can to help you achieve your full potential. But we can't do it all ourselves. You'll need to bring the ambition, the motivation, and the drive.

So what do you think? Like Kyle, are you one of us?

Now, if you were to come on board as one of our Associate Relations Specialists, we'd ask you to do the following:

  • Promote a positive work environment through resolution of issues, and responding to questions and inquiries regarding Associate Relations issues.
  • Provide coaching and counseling to Operations Management with respect to all labour relations issues (i.e. progressive discipline, attendance management, collective agreement interpretation, grievance process).Develop and deliver Associate and Labour Relations training programs and initiatives, as well as other Human Resources topical communications.
  • Act as the primary communications resource for Administration, Distribution Centre Associates, and the Home Office.
  • Manage all leaves of absence as provided through legislative, policy and/or the collective agreement provisions for all Distribution Centre Associates.
  • Manage all statistics and documentation related to leaves, Associate and Labour relations investigations and resolutions, and the grievance process.

Sounds rather challenging and exciting, right? Let's hope so, because if it sounds easy or boring, there's a good chance this job isn't for you. But if it does sound right for you, here's why we know you'll be able to handle those challenges:

  • You possess the minimum 3 years of Human Resources or Associate Relations work experience, with the preferred unionized environment experience.
  • You have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • You have, or are working towards, your Human Resources designation (CHRP) or equivalent. You can interpret and apply policies, procedures and collective agreement provisions; monitor and implement provincial and federal legislative changes, and demonstrate knowledge of compensation and benefits, training and development.

  • Your strong interpersonal abilities include advanced listening, verbal and written communication, and facilitation skills.Your customer service skills include the ability to deal with high-pressure, sensitive information in a timely, courteous and professional manner.

We know some of that might sound a little daunting, but if we're going to meet and exceed our promises to our customers, we have to be committed to hiring the best person for the job.
