Allocation Analyst - Co-op

Meet Marc.

Marc is a student, working a Coop as one of our Allocation Analysts, which means he puts together our product mix to ensure that each store is as profitable as possible. It's not an easy job. It requires a lot of evaluation and analyzing of data to help us achieve specific business objectives. Thankfully, he has one of the quickest and most insightful minds around, so he's fantastic at his job.

Of course, he honed those skills while on the stand-up comedy circuit as a teenager, so sometimes his reports on the data can be a bit...quirky. Insightful and great...but quirky.

But still, this is Marc. He is one of us.

Now, if you were to come on board as one of our Allocation Analyst Coops, we'd ask you to do the following:

  • Analyze business at class level and incorporate findings into a shipping strategy that ensures appropriate merchandise allocation to stores based on store size, volume, demographics and need
  • Work with Merchandise Planning to determine purchase orders and units to list for priority processing at the Distribution Centre (DC)
  • Collect stores' sales data and create a written report of promotions or features within a particular department
  • Analyze internal tools for store risks and opportunities at a group level
  • Track, solve, and escalate problems at new stores, filling needs, controlling and maintaining the mix, reviewing cut-off lists, etc.
  • Use allocation tools to allocate goods
  • Update and maintain the qualitative and quantitative filter models, decision trees, and attribute lists
  • Pull and analyze qualitative and quantitative store data, identifying opportunities with each business partner and mapping entry creation to support the stores
  • Run and produce last week's Turnbands results; work with Turnbands templates; troubleshoot, problem solve, and escalate concerns relating to Turnbands
  • Problem solve issues at Distribution Centres relating to production, price and assortment
  • Visit stores and comps with various partners in the business and action findings

  • You are pursuing a post secondary degree or diploma in Business, or you have one year of related experience
  • You have a solid understanding of Microsoft office applications, other business tools and reports, and an understanding of off-price retailing
  • Your analytical skills include the ability to read and interpret basic financial data for the purpose of creating shipping strategies and modifying store ranks
  • You have the ability to execute decisions based on provided directions
  • You have merchant skills for creating and evaluating the merchandise mix for brand, fashion, quality, price, inventory, seasonality, and vendor representation
  • Your strong problem-solving skills include the ability to respond to inquiries about inventory levels and merchandise mix
  • You have strong time-management, interpersonal, information-gathering, and team-building skills
  • You have the ability to effectively and efficiently respond to inquiries, and to resolve issues quickly
  • Your computer skills include word processing and email, and basic writing skills
