Role Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:
- Organize unassigned routes to drivers to be picked first thing in the morning and provide day-to-day on-road supervision.
- Ensure that customer orders are delivered within the specified timelines and quality of products is maintained.
- Respond to on-road issues including driver accidents and injury reports.
- Liaise with District Sales Managers and Customer Service department as necessary.
- Manage overtime hours, hours of work, reduce accident frequency, and maintain low shrink numbers.
- Create a safety awareness culture through the encouragement of Health & Safety best practices.
- Take the necessary steps to minimize transportation costs and maintain efficiency.
- Manage grievance process and interpret collective agreement.
- Maintain compliance with MTO regulations.
- Respond to customer inquiries.
- Responsible for compliance with all Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) comprising Sysco's Food Safety Program, specific for the assigned role.
- Assist Food Safety Program Manager in ensuring compliance to Sysco's Food Safety Program that leads to compliance with third party certification and customer requirements.
Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma required, Post-Secondary education an asset.
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a transportation role preferably in the foodservice industry.
- A valid Ontario AZ driver's license in good standing is an asset.
- Must possess experience working in a unionized environment.
- Must be able to work throughout Toronto (GTA), Barrie, and Vaughan area of service.
- Required to work shifts that may include evenings, nights and/or weekends.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Customer service, time management and leadership skills.
- Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Internal candidates must have worked in their current position for at least one year.
