PT Counsellors for Addictions and Mental Health Programs
St. Leonard’s Community Services provides programs and services in Addictions and Mental Health, Housing, Justice and Employment that enable community members to overcome challenges through choices that result in positive change.
Our accredited centre of excellence for children, youth, adults, and families is currently seeking an enthusiastic and responsible individual for the following position:
PART TIME COUNSELLORS FOR VARIOUS ADDICTIONS AND MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMS
(Crisis, Day Treatment and Addictions)
DUTIES: Day Treatment provides individual and group counselling, identifies strength, needs and levels of risks. Responsibilities include delivering manualize treatment material, providing individual counselling sessions, completing documentation and strength-based service planning. Liaises with resources, supports and referral sources and completing community presentations.
Crisis counsellors provide on-call crisis line and mobile response for youth and adults who are experiencing mental health or situational crisis situations. Responsibilities will include assessing the situation and formulating an appropriate plan of action. This may include various interventions such as telephone crisis support and face to face crisis intervention, attending at the scene of the crisis, calling in other emergency services, consultation with other clinicians (psychiatrists/psychologists), interaction with other professionals and community agency staff, referral to other agencies and providing follow up and support where required to facilitate a safe discharge plan.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a college diploma in a Social Services field, with a University degree in related Social Sciences preferred. Registration with a regulated body or working towards is an asset. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and working with databases and for some positions, must be able to provide outreach services within the community (travel is required).

HOURS OF WORK: Must be flexible to accommodate the needs of the program, including evenings and weekends.
START DATE: A.S.A.P.
HOURLY WAGE: Band 4 - $18.30 plus shift premiums and group health, dental, accidental death & dismemberment, and travel insurance benefits
