Within Canada, our Rail & Transit team has been selected to design and deliver most of the recent Greenfield and Brownfield LRT, ALRT and Light Metro jobs awarded in the last 10 years including the Canada Line, Calgary West LRT, Edmonton North LRT, the Evergreen Line and the Confederation Line.  We are actively working on delivering projects such as Trillium Line (Ottawa), Le Réseau express metropolitain (Montreal) and Eglinton-Crosstown (Toronto) and the Federal Way Link Extension in Seattle as well as many other direct to client assignments improving railway systems across North America. 

Our Rail & Transit Engineering team deliver systems solutions that include alignment and track, traction power and distribution, signaling and train control, and communications. One of the key components of our systems delivery is systems engineering and safety assurance encompassing the engineering work required to manage the complex engineering of systems, sub-systems and components of a rail transit project in accordance with international standards. 

In light of our current and future workloads, our Systems Engineering sub practice are recruiting Systems Engineering graduates. This entry level role will facilitate a learning journey working toward achieving the required competencies of a professional engineer. 

How will you contribute to the team? 

To perform this role successfully, we will provide you with the training and guidance to support and deliver activities including the following: 

Provide high quality consultancy services to the rail industry in the fields of systems engineering and safety assurance. 
Manage requirements using industry standard software such as IBM DOORS. 
Contribute to developing strategies to grow the systems engineering service offering. 
Interact with design technical leads and learn how the entire railway works as a complete system. 
Development of Systems Integration processes and documentation. 
Support of Systems Engineering processes and Systems Delivery processes. 
Interaction with Design Technical Leads, Construction Delivery Leads and O&M/M&R Support Leads. 
Support of construction and installation activities in the field. 
Support for Test & Commissioning and start of service of mass transit, urban rail and heavy freight rail systems, including (but not limited to) signalling and train control system, communications and traction power. 
Support for System Assurance/V&V teams in the delivery of mass transit, urban rail and heavy freight rail systems, including (but not limited to) signalling and train control system, communications and traction power . 
  

We are looking for graduates with an enthusiasm for complex multidisciplinary rail projects, who enjoy problem solving and finding solutions that meet the requirements of multiple stakeholders. 

What will you contribute? 

Essential – University degree in engineering or science. 
Essential – Eligibility for registration as an EIT with the local engineering jurisdiction: EGBC, APEGA, PEO, OIQ, etc. 
Essential-Experience with system integration knowledge and expertise in this domain for 0 – 2 years. 
Essential-Knowledge of system integration practices and processes 
Essential-Good team player in a mixed team of systems integration and system engineering professionals 
Essential-Able to take part in discussions with the team member and peers. 
Essential – Computer competency and familiarity. 
Essential – Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written). 
Essential – Experience distilling and presenting technical information to audience. 
Essential – Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn. 
Essential – Team mentality and ability to collaborate. 
Essential – Demonstrated ability to organize, track and deliver against competing priorities. 
 

Highly desirable 

Knowledge of system engineering practices, processes and principles 
Experience of technical environments 
Good MS Office skills. 
Excellent written, presentation and communication/briefing skills; able to present to audiences of peers 
Excellent relationship skills; able build trust and advocacy with others 
Excellent interpersonal skills; able to engage staff and address issues effectively
Knowledge of the French language 
Travel –
