This is an exciting opportunity at Rogers Media, within our National Media Operations facility to build integrative solutions for our media supply chain initiative. The successful candidate will help drive our thriving content business across television and radio properties and contribute to delivering an excellent user experience on all platforms.
 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Content Governance, the Media Supply Chain Developer will work closely with end-users, operations leads and engineering teams to integrate systems and services that make up our content ecosystem. The successful candidate will be responsible for adding continued functionality, workflow automation and maintaining the overall health of our Media Supply Chain environment to ensure we are able to meet operational requirements to effectively ingest, process and deliver high quality content to our customers.   

This position requires creativity, innovation, strong communication skills, and collaborates with various cross functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop integrative solutions when there are no off-the shelf options to fit our requirements
  • Build integration between systems to seamlessly move and track content within the operations facility
  • Produce sophisticated methods to track content for faster, first-time right delivery
  • Improve content submission processes by building a portal—the front end for content ingestion—which provides automated workflows and real-time feedback to end users on status and quality of content coming into the facility.
  • Leverage our technology ecosystem by building dashboards that help the business establish/set much needed benchmarks/KPIs for reporting purposes
  • Gain better oversight into system health and reduce the number of outages by leveraging data to proactively fix issues
  • Define best practices relating to API and codebase management

Candidates must have the skill sets to integrate platforms and be versatile in their use of different coding languages to meet the diverse technical needs for National Media Operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • 3+ years of software design/development and API Management experience in an agile/iterative delivery structure
  • Experience working in Python, Java, JavaScript
  • Understanding of automated workflow creation and modeling tools (i.e. Camunda)
  • Working knowledge of cloud-based technologies, including integration with services from providers such as AWS, Azure and/or Google Cloud platform among others
  • Contribute to media file and metadata management, including automation and scripting of file-based media orchestration tools both on-premise and externally hosted.
  • Solid experience working with API Management tools
  • Strong technical knowledge of basic networking, Web Services protocols such as REST, SOAP and API design for extensibility and portability as well as XML/JSON data formats
  • Working knowledge of log data manipulation techniques to set parameters for automated system alerts and (i.e. Elastic platform)
  • Capability of leveraging tools like Kibana to build key reporting dashboards to manage system health
  • Strong technical aptitude, communication skills and willingness to learn a new application/domain are a must
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies
  • Understands, advocates, and supports the integration of network technology strategies
  • Originality and ingenuity are required for devising practical and economical solutions to problems
