The Joint Operations Accounting group is responsible for both sides of Joint Venture Accounting (inbound and outbound joint interest billings)  Our accountants work with assigned joint interest partners on collections, analysis and accurate reporting of the Accounts Receivable on Operated JIBs as well as analysis, verification and booking of non-operated revenue, capital and expenses on non-operated JIBs.  Responsible for reporting to head office.

Position overview and Responsibilities:                                                                                           

Reporting to the Team Leader, Joint Operations Accounting, responsibilities include:

  • Collect and follow up of assigned Partner’s Receivables on Outbound operated JIBs, act as a liaison for our working interest partners to resolve queries and disputes on their joint interest billings.
  • Ensure coordination and effective communication to resolve operated partner disputes with other departments of TLM (Master Data Management, Production Accounting, A&D, Legal and Land) as well as preparation of necessary adjusting journal entries.
  • Regular interaction with Joint Venture Reps, JV Contracts Group, Land and other internal groups to ensure accuracy and validity of op costs/capital/revenue billed to Repsol.
  • Analyze, verify and record inbound non-operated revenue, capital and operating expenses from assigned partners on a monthly basis. 
  • Take advantage of the “Dual Role” to deal consistently with partners and maximize Repsol cash flow.
  • Primary systems utilized are EnergyLink and SAP (financial accounting system); additional systems utilized are QBLM, Petrinex, Accumap and several internal web based applications.
  • Manage and reconcile assigned partners receivable/payable balances providing accurate and timely info to Supervisor and Management as needed.
  • Good knowledge of and ability to decipher various Joint Venture, Land and other industry agreements and especially the relevant clauses pertinent to partner billing issues, remedies and rights.        
  • Maintain good working relationships with partners and be a positive representative of Repsol to our Operated and non-operated working interest partners including pleasant, ethical and co-operative behavior.
  • Monthly and quarterly reporting to internal groups and head office

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in their third or fourth year of an Accounting degree
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite of Products
  • Very strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Able to work independently and within a team
  • Demonstrate an understanding and enthusiasm for the oil and gas industry
  • Professional conduct is fundamental to success in this position
  • Proven organizational and time management skills
